AudioQuest’s award-winning DragonFly DAC/headphone amp is upgraded for even better sound! Refined circuitry between the DAC chip and analog output stage provides greater transparency. The DAC’s power supply is also fortified, giving your music more “grip” and greater dynamic contrast. A more direct signal path yields huge dividends in transparency and immediacy. DragonFly v1.2 provides brilliant sound from computer audio files, plugs into any USB output, and easily connects to stereo systems and headphones. You'll be listening to vastly improved audio in minutes!
"I can think of no more recommendable product in digital audio."
– Art Dudley, Stereophile
Just like the original version, Dragonfly v1.2 connects to the USB jack on any Mac- or Windows-based computer and delivers vastly superior sound quality. Stuffed with state-of-the-art features, DragonFly provides unbeatable sound quality. DragonFly features a 3.5mm (1/8") mini-jack for its analog output. It's user-selectable for either a Variable or a Fixed output. Variable Output Mode takes advantage of DragonFly's 64-position analog volume control, allowing it to be used with headphones, ear buds, powered speakers, or directly into an amplifier. The Fixed Output Mode allows DragonFly to be connected to any audio system. All that's required is a readily available mini-to-RCA analog cable.
"The Dragonfly Is dead, long live the Dragonfly v1.2. AudioQuest has managed to do something no other company has yet accomplished which is to swat their own product off our Greatest Bits list by delivering what strikes me as a more natural and all around simply better-sounding DAC and they've done so for $100 less than the price of the original!"
– Michael Lavorgna, Audiostream
"Lo and behold, the progeny of the original DragonFly has arrived; version 1.2 sounds better than ever. Whatever the reason for the improvement, I like it, and so will the millions of laptop users who will benefit from using the DragonFly v1.2. You know what I like more than the sonic improvements? The price: At $149, even the most cash-strapped of music lovers can afford this DAC!”
– Spencer Holbert, The Absolute Sound, February 2014
DragonFly employs sophisticated Asynchronous USB Audio Data Transfer to dramatically improve every aspect of audio performance. Tremendous amounts of engineering ensure the best possible sound on any type of music files. DragonFly accepts music files ranging from MP3 to full-resolution, standard CD files (16-bit/44kHz). DragonFly will even play your high-resolution 24-bit/96kHz music files! (NOTE: the DragonFly will play files up to 24bit/192k, but it will down-sample them to 24/96). Plus, it has a clever LED indicator that changes color to display the resolution of the incoming signal. (Green=44.1k, Blue=48k, Yellow=88.2k, White=96k or above.)
"The DragonFly's sound is clearer and more precise. Bass is tighter and better defined...the DragonFly's more expansive stereo image floats freer of the speakers."
– Steve Guttenberg, CNet.com
DragonFly was created to make it easy for everyone to enjoy the best sound possible from all their computer audio files. With DragonFly, you get a great-sounding DAC that will easily drive any pair of headphones at home, or on a plane. Finally, you can take the same high-performance audio you enjoy at home out on the road with you! The device also sounds incredible when connected to a pair of powered speakers at home or in the office.
"Dynamically bolder and timbrally more vivid than most contemporary DACs of my acquaintance, the DragonFly's sound was colorful and up-front. Tonal balance, from bass to treble, was as good as I've heard in a modern digital source component, being neither dull nor overly crisp or bright."
– Art Dudley, Stereophile
Hearing is believing: When connected to a high-end audio system, the sound from this USB DAC is simply jaw-dropping. Try one today and we know you'll agree. 100% Music Direct Money Back Guaranteed.
"When the DragonFly butted heads with the computer soundcard, the latter lost within seconds. It was a contest between clean, smooth, and dynamic versus dirty, rough, and lifeless. The DragonFly had better imaging, greater depth, richer texture, could play louder without inducing fatigue, and a solid bass that made me suspect my sub had gotten into performance-enhacing drugs."
– Mark Fleischmann, Home Theater

"AudioQuest's DragonFly USB DAC is brilliant in every respect: form factor, cool factor, versatility, value, and sound quality. I can't think of a product that makes high-end sound more accessible to more people. Want better sound? Here, plug this into your computer. Done."
– Robert Harley, The Absolute Sound
"Holy smokes! What a giant step forward in sound quality with this setup! The smooth, clean, refined sound I’d heard before remained, but now with a level of transparency, detail, and immediacy that running the signal through the preamp hadn’t provided. The result was a noticeable increase in resolution, image specificity, soundstage space, and realism. I’m not talking about a subtle or barely perceptible difference, such as might be provided by going from 24/96 to 24/192. I’m talking, 'Wow, that’s not even close!' What had sounded merely good now sounded fantastic."
– Doug Schneider, SoundStage!
